Newbie Nissan lover here...Ive gotta few questions...

Are there any performance differences between the 97-98 240sx LE model and the SE model?

The only differences that I notice are that the LE comes with standard leather seats, standard CD player, and standard sunroof.

Do either of the two come with LSD?

Actually, for 97~98 model 240s, they all came with 5 lugs. There are 3 trims -

base model, which main difference compared to the SE are fog lights, wing, rims, tires, stereo system, moon roof, and some other small misc items.

SE has 5 spoke 16 (I believe, if not 17s), spoilers, better stereo system, include pillar tweeters, fog lights, but not all SEs came with ABS and LSD.

LE is the top of the line model in 240s and they are very rare, it has all that the SE has and also ABS with LSD, with leather.

 

base model 4 lug

SE came with:
-5 lug and 16x6 5 spoke nissan alloys (205/55-16 but can fit 225/50 on it)
-fog lights
-spoiler
-rear sway bar (BASE DOES NOT HAVE REAR!)
-map light
-white face gauges
-different print on seat and door panel cloth

-lsd came with the abs option, or as option by itself if u wanted it installed.
-the pillar tweeters is an option. my SE only has 4 speakers and had an am/fm casette before i put the jvc cd player in it.

-leather was standard on LE, was option on SE

-LE was an se with leather usually.

moonroofs are option on all 3 models, but base models rarely had a sunroof

NOT all LE's had lsd or abs, it was still an option at some point. i know of someone who didnt have it on their LE.

That's only true for 95~96 models

 

97-98s had the mesh rims for base models those were 4 lug.

 

Nope.....I will run around and get some picture.....all 97~98 models has 5 lugs.

As for the information you supplied, what came with what, for instance, sunroofs was an option on SE and LEs, technically that is true, they are port (dealer) installed options, but I can almost willing to say that ALL SEs and LEs came with the options installed, there might be a few, but VERY VERY minimal. There are not Japanese cars that are assembled here in the US, therefore when saying dealer installed options, it's actually not true.

 

Example.....

Mercedes Benz C class are suppose to start at $28,000, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to get the based price....since just about all cars came with some type of a dealer installed options.

IS300, samething, had a STARTING price of $28,000, but NO IS300 are below $30,000.

i also have like 4 other people i know with the base model s14A, all 4 lug mesh rims, one has aftermarkets now but still 4 lug.
