not trying to be an Epstein Tr leghumper, but seriously how?

How do you just know so much?

I'm envious with the knowledge retention you have.
I seriously wish I could remember half the amount of stuff you have forgotten.

Honestly, it's from doing my own research. The process of finding the right answer (instead of asking for the answer) is key to remembering. Having those fittings and saying "hmm what size are these threads" and then measuring them with my own 2 hands is a lot more memorable than posting on the internet. No offense to those that post questions on the internet, by the way.

no cuz I've had a 240 for just over 5 years and I don't know a fraction of what you guys do.

yeah, but knowing the thread size and what not is just icing on the cake.
the really impressive stuff is knowing the sub frame dimensions and that write up you did on that other site about suspension set up and all of that craziness.
Its more than just knowing stuff, it is the understanding and figuring out part that is so impressive. Don't get me wrong, I wish I could just recall one fact after another. But that isn't smart, at least not to me. Smart is figuring out the answer and understanding it.

Maybe it is because I haven't ever been in a position to really apply any of that neat stuff, like the optimum control arm length, that when I read about it, it just doesn't click the way it seems to for you guys.

For me its mostly practical hands on experience. Like I had to re-thread the the oil feed port on my old SR which is how I knew what it was.

Also there isn't 50 million bolt sizes used on the car, theres about 8-10 sizes common through out. Its just like looking at the head of a bolt and knowing if its 12mm or 1/2, the same goes with thread sizes.

I also used to spend a lot of time researching and discussing how to make the car set up as best as possible. So I've read a lot over the years and had plenty of discussions about it with lots of people.
