Well the title says it all
I just wired up an old radio, and everyonce in a while the radio will play for a breif second, but the radio is on the whole time, any ideas?

And I'm posting this in here because no one looks in the audio section and I'm trying to fix this problem ASAP

Well I just ran brand new wire to each speaker and its still doing it...

 

I noticed it skips on when I first hit the brakes??? Any ideas?

sounds like your power wire is in good but check connection on each of the other wires i had the same problem and it got worse when i hit bumps.

 

And my radio only turns on when i turn the headlights on, but i think thats due to me having a bad dimmer switch, which is also the reason why my gauge cluster lights are out

 

wait, we talking about a factory unit here?

If it only comes on when the lights are turned on then you wired it wrong.
it doesn't need tied into the lights at all to function. most aftermarket units don't even have the wire there for the dimmer.

Well I noticed that the radio plays like it should when the volume is like 30 or below(goes up to 65) so it plays normall when the volume is real low, and it only starts playing when I hit the brake, but like it stops playing when I turn up the volume like its drawing tomuch power
