93 240sx hatch temp gauge not working????
most OEM gauges are crap.. even the speedos...
hell, the idiot lights don't come on till whatever is critical mass... i had lost my oil drain plug as i was driving, aftermarket oil PSI dropped to 1-2psi, and the oil light hadn't come on yet... if the gauges reflect that, in any way shape or form, i'll go aftermarket, even the cheap ass sunpro stuff...
one of the first things i bought for my GTR was a Autometer boost psi, oil psi, and water temp gauges, same as the OEM gauges that were in the center console, but i don't trust the OEM for shit... hell, i was hitting 20psi and the OEM boost gauge was reading like 12ish....
on RB26's, the oil psi sending unit is JUNK (same as Z32 IIRC), even ordering a new one sometimes doesn't solve the problem, it'll read 5psi (in standard measure), when in actuality, it'll be around 20-25psi...
me? about the only OEM gauges i trust are the speedo, and tach, and even those can be off, hell, i think most auto manufacturers have a 5% margin of error in the speedo calibrations

What exactly looks stock and clean about ripping out the center a/c vent and stuffing some gauges in there ?
Ohh, yeah forgot, probably no a/c, so actual cleanliness is usually out the window anyway.

no, AC worked, the car only had like 45K when he bought it...
i dunno, you'd have to see it in person to appreciate it, it was very well, and lightly done.. the panel wasn't some rattle canned peice of card board, all TR style, it was nicely beveled ABS plastic, clean "stockish' looking gauges, with black textured bezels... nothing at all over the top...
i'm not a big fan of the vent gauges either, but Matt pulled it off nicely and tastefully IMHO.

the a/c might have worked, but now it works like crap.
and it doesn't look stock at all.
I might give it "clean" but only in terms of it not being spray painted cardboard.
It just isn't my thing.
Don't get me wrong, I like knowing what's going on. having that kind of info right there is great and all, but I would rather see a custom gauge pod in place of the stock cluster. or something like that.
I don't even mind the gauges down below the radio. recessed and angled a little bit. I prefer that much more than the air vent.

hey, you don't see me ripping out my AC vents to run gauges there....

I'm just saying that on my buddys car, the install, and look was clean for what it is, it's not my thing either, just pointing out that they all don't look like shit, that it can be clean if done right....
