trans problem.. and idle/maf problem.. Help if you can
My car has some wierd issue. I think it may be the idler control valve on the back of the intake etc but no idea.
Dual cam ka
when the maf is plugged in it idles like shit/runs like shit.
when the maf plug is out and in safe mode it runs fine.
I have used 3 dual cam mafs and it still does this.
Next issue.
Trans goes into gear when off , I am guessing because the flywheel isnt turning.
But as soon as it is on the clutch will not let the car go into gear.
I replaced the master, ran a new line straight from the clutch master to slave.
So I asume clutch but the original owner swears up and down it was driving fine before I got it.

Same problem happened to me. I thought IACV or vac leak.
the problem actually lied in the wiring harness..
Is your upper harness all fubared?? can you turn down the idle with the screw??
(is IACV working??)
Clutch engagement problem:
Have you taken the pressure plate off at all???
sounds like clutch like you thought
its possible the TOB or fork MIGHT've slipped off while the previous owner was attempting a clutch swap: Installer-error
Questions:
was it driving when you got it??
Good luck with the troubleshooting..
I have a KA to work on tomorrow too.. Im not looking forward to it.. hahah

No sean it was a fire victim. I had to put all new wiring etc in the car and most of the engine was replaced.
when I turn the idle screw in the back nothing really happens so I assume that is bad..
and as far as the clutch, I think it may be the fork but at the same time the slave is fully finctioning asnd the fork is going along with it perfectly.

when you replaced the wiring, did you replace the ecu too? never know, could have been something stupid like the wires melted, caused a short, which fucked the ecu...
could also be the TPS.
In safe mode, it only reads the TPS. If it is off, and you add in a MAF signal, it could be tweaking out the ECU... kinda like dividing by zero.
the tranny sounds like the clutch itself. It might have been driving for a little bit, then broke.... clutch plate not aligned right will do that... pressure plate just dying will do that... throw out going bad, grinding away at the pressure plate splines until the ends snap off and get jammed between the clutch and the flywheel, gauging and scoring and melting and welding all kinds of mayhem in there will do that too...
EDIT:
oh, and if it is an 5 speed swap, if the kid forgot to change the pilot bushing, then the bearings could be shot.
could also be something dumb, like doesn't have any gear lube in it... or the gear selector shaft is warped/bent.
