Default Vlsd

I have a question about vlsd's. I've got an SE S14, and from my knowledge they come with vlsd correct? Well i've had open diffs, welded diffs, and this is my first time with a vlsd. Both tires have equal wear (bald as shit), and when i go over speed bumps and my car rocks like a seesaw, both wheels seem to spin and catch traction whenever they hit pavement. But the other night i took her out just to see if i could get it sideways for the first time and clutch kicked 1st for some drift donuts so i thought. Well only the outside wheel (pass. side) was spinning and i was driving around in a circle like a dumbass lol. I've heard they don't lock sometimes if you dont clutch kick hard enough but trust me i kicked the shit out of it. How do these things work. Because i've heard of J30 vlsd's working pretty good so why wont an S14 vlsd work? Thanks for any input

No. Only ABS models had vlsd... You have a open diff.

Thats not true. The diff was an available option to the SE's and LE's. Standard on most LE's, but one could have had the S14 without ABS.

i could be mistaken,, if you ordered the Vlsd in an SE model it came with ABS, the Vlsd only option was not available for SE models. A base model however had the factory option of Vlsd without ABS. I did A TON of research when i first bought my car in early 08 and that was a pretty solid consensus from 3 LONG time Nissan employed people, one of which raced some circuit in his 240.

i you had no abs and had a diff ?

was hoffa in your trunk ?

jk... just have seen more 13's and 14's in my life than most people (from xat days) and never ran across that combo. I even searched the s14 fiche from nissan just now and there was no vlsd differential housing you can buy from nissan without the abs sensor.

Test 1: Jack up the rear end of your car and spin one of your wheels by hand. If the other wheel spins in the opposite direction you have an open differential.
Test 2: Have someone hold the other wheel while you try and turn the opposite wheel by hand. It should turn, but be pretty difficult to do so.
Test 3: Look for the vlsd sticker on your differential.
Test 4: Open your differential and look at the guts.
