ka24de head removal
ok, so I'm having a brain fart and can't remember how to take the cams off so you can pull the head off.
Do you absolutely have to unbolt the cam gears?
The timing sprocket has to come off to take the head off. Does that allow enough play to take the cams off?
you can just zip tie the chain to the sprocket to keep it from falling, right? or am I thinking of the single cam?
Is that 19mm bolt holding the sprocket it just ridiculously tight, or am I missing something? I don't want to put the breaker bar to it since it is just bolted into aluminum, I don't want to run the risk of stripping it out. Been there, helicoiled that. It isn't reverse threaded or something dumb like that is it?
Sorry for the dumb post. It has been at least 2 years since I have had to pull a dual cam head off. Done a handful of single cam heads since then. I'm just having a "forgot how to use a wrench" kind of night.
thanks for the help.

ok. broke the 19mm bolt loose. it was just stupid tight. got a bit more play in the chain, but not enough to take the cam off... What am I missing?
I'm like 80% sure you don't have to take the cam gears off... I could be wrong though... ugh...

MY experiences with it, took the gear completely off and ziptie'd the chain in place with the gear so timing is much more simple in the end.
