Default Overheating issue on s13

Alright so I have a 1994 Ka24de that doesn't want to quit overheating on me.

It just all of a sudden started overheating on my way home from work one day.
I pulled the thermostat and it was bad, so I put a new one in, but still no luck because I noticed the water pump was also leaking. I replaced the water pump, and still no luck.

I've done two head gasket tests and both came back negative.

Symptoms include:

I get a flow from the bleeder bolt. Then bolt it down. I start to blurp the upper radiator hose, but in just a few seconds from putting the bleeder bolt back in the radiator starts overflowing like crazy, spitting fluid out. I manage to cap it, and let the car continue to idle. It sits around two clicks on the temp sensor like norma, until i drive or rev the motor at all. Then is slowly creeps up to start overheating.

I'm stumped. A few suggestions from people included:
faulty new thermostat,
bad coolant temp sensor,
severe air lock,
clogged radiator(only a few years old),
or a blown headgasket.

Any insight would be great. I've been trying to figure it out for two weeks now.

might wanna do a full flush of the system get any crap or what ever out.
If your CTS is old, mine as well change that out too. Also check your coolant see if it has any signs of oil, or if its milky color if it is then head gasket.

hope this helps

if your coolant temp sensor was bad your car wouldnt be over heating lol

try just pulling out the thermostat and running no thermostat and see what happens. if you still over heat try swapping radiators with a friend and if you still over heat its gonna be your head gasket but then you said you have had it checked twice.
and when ever you fix it go to nissan and buy there thermostat its about $30 but it will last for years and years trust me i have been through the fail safe ones and the auto zone ones, advanced, there all garbage lol.

so try that and report back

I had a similar issue with a ka. I idled it full heat with the bleeder screw out, set the over flow tank higher than the bleeder and ran about two full tanks of water through the system until the bubbles were down to a little one every couple minutes, down from a few every ten seconds or so. It took maybe 30 minutes.

Alright I'll try a few of these ideas. The thermostat is brand new from Nissan, so I'm guessing its not that. I've been considering taking it to get a full system flush. I haven't found any milky coolant/oil in the coolant.

The radiator is only a few years old but I guess it could have gotten clogged somewhere.

I might try this last idea that jtmroczk had, and if that fails, go for the coolant vacuum flush.

Thanks for the input guys. If you have any more ideas let me know.

Problem solved! Thanks jtmroczk! Must have just been a big air pocket in there somewhere, but it worked its way out and is good to go!
