Default A/C question...

Hey Guys.

My A/C has finally stopped blowing cold. I own as '93 s13 hatch with the r12 type refrigerant. Has anyone done a r134a upgrade that would offer some advise on how to DIY it. Or would you all pretty much recommend taking it to a shop.

I've googled this already and didnt get any truely decent answers to this question. If you have a link to drop in that would be great. Let me know.

Thanks,

-Royce

your best bet is going to be to have a shop do it, unless you have an a/c vacuum.
only reason i say this, is because on my previous cars, like, my acura cl, i evacuated and recharged it, but just did a 15min vacuum and dropped the ac temp by nearly 15 degrees, thats worth it in itself.
where are you located? i can recommend someone that wont fuck your face off to do it.

Im located in Clearwater off Drew St...close to the Best Buy. I think thats fairly central as far as Pinellas county is considered. I also dont mind traveling for a good shop that doesnt bend me over. Suggestions appreciated tim laden!!

Napa has a retro fit kit you can buy. You just change the fittings yourself and then you have to take it to an a/c shop to vacuum it and inject the necessary oil and have them recharge it with r134a. I would try to find where your leak is first though.
