Default Belt Squeal

Got a 95 240sx recently had to replace my water pump. Decided to change all the belts at the same time and now the belts are squealing only at night when I first start up the car, usually lasts 15-30 seconds. I tried to retighten the belts but the noise is still there. Any ideas?

I've had issues with getting the alternator belt snug enough the first time around. The tensioner for that belt can be annoying. If you didnt have the problem before, its more than likely just a matter of confirming all is tight (or even lined up) again. Belts will also stretch a little after they are first installed and run for the first time.
Please dont thing that I'm saying you didnt do it right the first time or anything like that. Its just the nature of the beast. Double checking couldnt hurt. Funny it would only squeal @ night though.

Also, If you still have the reciept or the holder deals that the belts came in...confirm that they were the right ones on the net. Those Adavance Auto Parts Guys have been known to drop the ball on replacement items like these.

I guess I am going to remove everything and just put it back together and double check everything. I saw somewhere online that the fan clutch could be bad? Anyone have any ideas how I would determine that or have any other suggestions? I hope removing the belts and putting it back together will solve the issue though.

start with tightening them down.... even if the clutch was bad, it wouldn't cause any more resistance on the pulley making the belt squeal

Well I took all the belts off and cleaned gave the pulleys a good cleaning. I tightened the belts significantly more and so far so good. That squeal was embarrassing. THanks guys.

I think most of us have been there my friend. Glad we could reassure you it wasnt anything too serious. I find alot of the time I make a would be improvement to my car it take a while for the old ride to "settle in" to the new part, like a water pump, belts any replacement or upgrade part. I its odd, but I think it messes with the cars Ch'i...lol.

Great to hear that so far so good!!
