Some of you may remember my thread a bit ago about trying to buy a roof from anyone junking a shell. My hatch was originally a non-sunroof model, but before I bought it, someone had put in an aftermarket sunroof.....dumbass.....fast forward to now and it leaks like hell and to top it off, the company is out of business and replacement parts are no more. Then one day I got the bright idea to rip the sunroof assembly out and pop rivet a piece of lexan over the hole. It did the trick, but I wasn't happy with how flimsy my roof was. The body shop wanted like $1500 to swap the roof skin which was definitely not what I wanted to hear. So I went to LKQ with a sawzall and hacked a roof off of a hatch halfway down the pillars, $50. Then it was on to removing the windows....pain in the ass....Then started the process of drilling spot welds....so much fun....lol. Now I'm at the point of just re-welding in the new skin and seam sealing it.

This, I would love to swap my coupe to a non-sunroof. But I know I would fuck it up, so Ill just deal with a sunroof.

It's actually much easier than I thought it would be. Removing the glass is 10x harder than the skin lol.

 

Very good job thus far, congrats on not being part of the usual "hey look i halfass slapped some garbage on my beat ass car and called it baller" stuff floating around.

Most people would have just swapped to another chassis.
