Disassmebling axles?
Anyone know how to disassemble axles? I've never really messed with 240 axles before and one of my 5 bolt axle ends got messed up so I'm trying to swap an end from one of the million 6 bolt axles I have laying around.
Honestly, I'd take it to a driveshaft shop. Someone who does this for a living is probably better versed in the process.

yea just haven't found a local driveshaft shop
I'm sorry s13king, thank you but you are fucking dumb. Seriously reread this. I'm talking about disassembling the axle itself not removing it from the car.

It should just be a matter of removing the boot to get the large housings off. The spiders are held in by C-clips, but I don't think they keep the housings from coming off.
edit: it does look like you have undo the c-clip and remove the spider to get the diff-side housing off. You're also supposed to mark the orientation of everything, but I don't think that applies to you since you're swapping parts out.

thanks Epstein that helps alot and it's gonna be messy haha I'm gonna try and swap the cups first to 6 bolt cups and see if that'll work.. do you know if it would? It's a JDM S13 diff with a Nismo 1.5
Nismo diffs actually take open diff cups. The spline is the same for all of diffs up to late S14 (and GT-R's), with only the location of the cir-clip differing. I'd try that first since it's easy. It'll either be perfect or like 3/8" off and easily spotted.
