Default sr20det clicking on start up

i just noticed over the past week, a click sound on start up, sounds like a playing card on a bicycle spoke only for a little bit. when i turn the car off and turn it back on a few minutes later it clicks again. boosts fine etc. no issues otherwise it seems, runs fine etc. any ideas? the only thing i did lately is switch tranny mounts and replaced the water pump and front main seal.

sounds like its coming from exhaust side. only does it under load, you can rev it and no clicking when no load.

........under load it does it?
Sounds like T2 exhaust manifold gasket is gone or going( or manifold to turbo nuts backing off) because you say its from the exhaust side.

But the thread title states "SR20DET clicking on start-up" thinking this was going to be a stupid "Starter ground" or Battery issue.

Better description on whats wrong exactly will better diagnose the issue.

Yea sounds like an exhaust mani or turbo gasket.

yea had the same problem with exhaust mani leak but it wasn't as quiet as a card on a bicycle wheel lol. sounded like a gun going off. turns out one of the mounting holes on my 1st exhaust gasket tore and it had slipped a bit over the hole. you may just have a similar occurrence just not at such a great scale. simple fix.

i found that one of my head to manifold nuts backed off a bit, tightened it down. so far no more clicking, so far.
