Default 1987 300z

Got one for free.
Was planing on doing a 240 build. Then thought to myself, well i have a free car right there, why not see if you can do something with that.

SO, me and my 0 knowledge on Z's, was wondering if its possibly for a redtop/blactop to be swapped into the car? I have no idea if it will fit. And figured someone on here might know. And if they don't fit, if there is another engine that will(no v8s damnit).

Thanks for any help.

Gonna slum it with a free Z31? What happened to the S2000/EVO/FD plans?

Nissan already gave you the best engine swaps for that car from the factory. You could start with the Turbo model engine that came in that car, which makes as much power as an SR (210ish) and drops right in. VG30ET is the name and it should be dirt cheap. They're basically bulletproof and come with a strong trans. Slap on a bigger T3 and go. Also, Nissan sold the same car with an RB20DET (series 1) in other markets. Google 200ZR. You can get the relevant parts and swap in any flavor of RB motor.

If you really have and EVO/S2000 budget, you can probably go over to ZFever and talk over your options. They've been working on those cars forever and will put whatever motor in there that you want.

300zx is a stout motor. You can use the standard 3.0 either in turbo or n/a mode. Lost of people are doing 9:1 compression and throwing a turbo on it for daily drivers.

People have also started swapping in the 3.3, and/or boring it out and running it turbo'd or non. Modifications are required for the 3.3, I am however planning on running a 3.3 bored to 3.5 with forged pistons.

Tuning options for this car are somewhat limited. The greatest currently is Nistune, which gives you the possibility to datalog real time with hook up for wideband.

There are definately lots of options.

If you plan on getting ride of it. let me know. I love Z's and was thinking about making a track car
