compression/timing question

Default compression/timing question

hi tr i got a 91 240sx with 180xxx the motor was swap to another ka24de with lower mileage by previous owner.Now the problem is im hearing a tapping slash grinding noise in the head the engine runs and everything but it loses high end power can it be off timing.All help will be appreciated thanks.

remove your upper timing chain guides.

and if it is off timing would it affect the compression test.

the upper timing chain guide is not there i think it snap off idk.

No, the ignition timing would not affext the compression test.

Your timing chain may be slapping around.

When you say 'loses high end power', what do you mean, does it bog?

if it snapped off that means it's bouncing around somewhere in your front cover. Find it and take it out before you cause your 240sx to blue screen of death.

if your timing chain is slapping around that means it is worn out.
i have a brand new timing chain set for sale let me know...
and find and remove ur upper timing chain guide mine broke on an old motor and it was getting sent to the valve cover with force lol

It loses high end power like when im getting on the gas pedal around 4k and 5k it loses power.Hey if is off timing can my valves make noise,and on Monday am gonna take it apart and take the oil pan off to see if there is any plastic pieces of the guides.Thanks.

are you sure you already checked the upper chain guide? by the way the guides are not plastic
