Default kouki 5 speed swap question!!!

I am finally going to swap my kouki to 5 speed but i have a quick question...

do i need an s14 lower harness for it to work? are the s13 and s14 lower harnesses different? i think the plugs for the alternator and starter are but can anyone confirm this?

thanks in advance...

You don't need a lower harness, the plugs are the same as long as your tranny has all the sensors in it. IIRC the only thing that needs to be wired is the reverse lights.

I think all ka lower harnesses are the same. I didn't have a 5 speed lower harness, I just used the auto tranny harness.

These links should help a bit. There's a few more write up's floating around the web.

^ That, I can't say for sure. It should... all ka trannys are the same. The only difference is s14 ka trannys have that knock sensor on top of the bell housing.

It is the crank angle sensor and it is going to throw a code if you don't use a s14 tranny. Also your going to have cold start problems. What I would do is buy the enthalpy s14-->s13 ecu harness and use a s13 ecu with that setup. That would mean no cold start and no codes.

jesus christ what the fuck is wrong with you people. no wonder half the cars on the road are falling apart

1) no!!! the S13 ans S14 lower harnesses are NOT the same

2) you need the lower harness of out a kouki!! even the 95-96 and 97-98 are different!

3) if youre using an S13 transmission, then you need to install the CRANK RELATION sensor into the bellhousing, but it HAS to be in the same spot as if it were an S14 transmission

4) the lower harness on the auto cars is the same (mostly) as the lower harness on the 5 spd cars. the auto portion is just ziptied down the side of the alternator/starter portion. everything is there except for reverse lights. all you need to do is determine which two wires coming off the PRNDL switch have continuity when in reverse only, and hook those up to the backup light switch on your 5 speed transmission

5) dont spend hundreds of dollars buying a rom tuned ecu and conversion harness just so you dont have to drill a hole. find someone with an S14 transmission, take a couple measurements and just do it.
