ok so im getting ready to sell one of my 14s and i want everything working now its florida so i never worried about the heat working but i want it to now.
ok i have had 4 s14's and this is the first one that has had this weird little valve that is conected to the heater hose under the hood. it has a little lever on it that i guess open's and closes. does anybody have a clue what it is for??
ok other than the heater core going bad what eles can cause the heat to not work, now if the car is warmed up and i turn the heat on it will blow hot as hell air for about 20 sec then it goes cold any ideals will help thanks.

 

Mine has one as well, as far as I know it's the water control valve. Known as cock-water control in the parts diagrams. Do you have power a/c controls? That little valve should actuate as you move the temp slider. I found all these pics here:

Do you have a thermostat installed? When I bought my S13 the previous owner removed the thermostat and I didn't figure it out until I needed heat and didn't have any. I installed a tstat and got heat back.

 

yea i have one installed

 

jam that valve thing open... not exactly fixing it, but you'll have heat... or at least you should have heat...

 

yeah that valve is getting jammed on something or the door under the dash that opens and closes to allow the heat from the heater core inside the vents is jammed up on something or gears have went bad.
