3" exhaust on stock ka=loss of power?
3" exhaust on stock ka=loss of power?
I have headers and a downpipe to a 3" exhaust system and I feel a complete loss of power compared to my friends 240's. I have rebuilt my motor and put a new clutch and resurfaced my flywheel since and no prevail. still loss of power. Ive heard conflicting answers as to weather or not it will rob power with no blower on the car. Only thing I can think of is that I have a tranny with bad syncros on it....i didnt know if it could rob acceleration power. It just feels like my car isnt putting the power to the rear wheels....
It isnt throwing codes. when i rebuilt my motor I replaced everything also, I seriously feel like its not a sensor problem but a exhaust or mechanical issue between the tranny..I dunno.
I got 2.5" piping and I noticed a loss in power when my exhaust broke where the flange for the cat is. Ka's like back pressure unless your boosted. Have you done a compression test after the rebuild? Also check your timing.

Yeah, 3" on an NA KA is going to result in loss of power. Er... I should say loss in low-end trq. It feels slower in the lower rpms yes? NA's require backpressure for scavenging. Boost it or find a small exhaust system...
Rebuilt for boost? Still kinda learning on the ka's but i heard if you build it for boost and then run n/a, then you will be slower bc of lower compression. Like i said im still learning so correct me if im wrong.
Im running a resonated 3in cat back exhaust to a 4in outlet and it feels more stronger. Top end mostly like Sil4D said.

and as for the thread i say adjust ur timing some something does not sound right.i have 3" cat back with stock mani and a hollow s14 cat it feels fine for me but yet im slow a hell lol
2.5 inch exhaust vs 3 inch exhaust gains are negligible... Exhaust isn't your problem
