SR20DE-T setup? advantages/disadvantages or just really stupid idea
okay so im a noob when it comes to motor building/ turbo engines and overall engine performance. so bear with me. tonight i got offered to trade my s14 KA thats in my car now for a perfectly running sr20de. the kid wants to have a completely stock ka to use as a daily for himself to get to school and what not. thats the reason why he wants to trade btw. and im thinking somewhere around the line of building this motor, and turbo it using a t28 out of a pulsar gti-r. this will be my first official build up, never done this before, and i dont know tooo much.
well anyways, advantages/disadvantages? give me shit i can actually use lol.
and id like to get much input as possible cause he wants me to make up my mind this week.

If you want to turbo the SR20DE, do it. The differences are only slight and some are advantageous. The S13 ones run 9.5 compression which would be awesome with a T28. If you're a little weirded out by that, you can always drop the compression to 9.2 with a 1.1mm headgasket instead of the stock 0.8mm one. As for tuning, RS Enthalpy can retune a KA ECU to run your setup.

thanks chris. do you think that this would be a reliable setup as long as i build it right? this car is also my daily driver. and about the KA ecu, it'll work on the SR??

Hell Yeah do it. I am rocking an S14 SR20DE block with an S13 DET head. 10.0:1 compression. 2.0mm Cosworth metal head gasket. 550cc injectors, Greddy plenum, Pulsar GTi-R turbo. and of course minor bolt ons. That thing pulls hard though. It is different than a regular SR.
okay thanks for the input!

Do it! It'd probably be like a ka-t without the torque. Higher horsepower with less boost = win.
