Well when i got this s13 it was stuttering and coughing all over the place. it barely made it to my house. i got it because i figured it would be a fun project. Little did i know that the previous owner put a s14 engine in there and now i am very confused (save the "noob" comments).

I got the car home and got started on making it run nice and the first thing i checked was the distributor timing. I took it out and turned it once tooth counter clockwise and pushed it back in... now it wont start. I put it at TDC and aligned the Distributor according to the notches on it and put it back in. Still nothing.

if anyone has some advice i would love it. i just readjusted it about an hour ago but my batt. is dead from trying so many times so im going to have to wait till tommorow to try it out again. hopefuly it starts up and i can give you all an update on how it sounds and runs =/

 

do you have an s13 dizzy or an s14?

I'm assuming that if you took it out and turned it one tooth counter clockwise and that wasn't right, you took it back out and turned it one tooth clockwise to get back to where you started right?

I'm still curious as to why the hell you felt the need to pull the dizzy out and mess with it... explain that, it might help with answering your questions....

 

Brown-out killed my two paragraph reply, but basically did you use a timing gun to check where it was at before pulling out the whole dizzy?

S14 KA into S13 is nothing hard, Ive done 2 in the past few months.

oh, i pulled the dizzy because im an idiot and i wasent thinking right. i didn't even mark where it was befor i pulled it... infact when i noticed that all i did was make it worse i pulled ity again and moved it ANOTHER tooth counter clockwise...... timing isent my thing lmao.

But yea, mate if you come over to give me a hand maybe you could teach me a thing or two, my buddy is having almost the exact same problem and we are both totaly clueless.... im just not afraid to admit it. =]

 

im not sure witch one i have but im pretty sure the difference between the two is one has another sensor plug on it, right?

i have witch ever one has one sensor plug >.<

Did you get the MAF swapped?

 

gotta wait till tomorrow. my brothers boss is the dude with the spare MAF. funny thing i was just sitting up at the store and i guess him and my brother had been talking and he just randomly asked me if i needed a MAF, hah. apprently he has one just sitting in his garage. great condition too. ill get my brother to give him a call tomorrow, ill throw it on, and tell you how its runnin.

 

so yea, its runnin like poopdick. i think the alternator is toast =[ or it may have something to do with the crappy wiring?
