Default S13 Ka timing

I am replacing the head gasket because NAWS+KA= head gasket eater lol.

I have never really done this before, only really worked on the internals of my rx7 not to much on piston's. but anyways i pulled off the valve cover etc got the cams out marked the timing, The previous owner gave me a 5 minute rundown of how to do it. he just never mentioned to move it to tdc. So know i have to re-time the entire thing, Ive searched around and have found no write ups on it. Any help would be GODLY.

yeah that should solve you problems...
everything has marks on it.. you put the #1 to TDC, there is a mark on the chain that lines up with a mark on the crank gear. that chain also has a mark that lines up with the gear at the top. it only lines up one way. get that all set, then do the cams. same process. each cam gear has a mark that lines up with a mark on the chain. the cams lobes should be pointed away from each other and "parallel" to the head.

just remember to turn the motor over by hand a bunch of times to make sure you did it right. everything will eventually line back up if you did it right.

Thank you, so basically go to the crank pully adjust to tdc. Not sure on how to move to tdc on the cams.

tdc on the crankshaft pulley is the second notch from the left. make sure you're setting tdc on the compression stroke.

maybe?

just behind the cam gears, there is a place you can put a wrench, I forget the size, but that will let you turn the cams and hold it in place as you put the chain on. the valve springs are going to cause the cam to want to turn to a "neutral" point, so you'll have to hold it against the springs.
