CA18DET vs SR20DET
whichever one you dump more money into theyre both capable of destroying the drivetrain you want to be daily driveable.

good point matt.
jay i cant remember many off the top of my head cuz there arent many but both have things people CONSIDER cons. theres a big thread on freshalloy about both of those but i think its in a ka vs sr thread it does have a few things people dont think are so great about the sr.
some people for instance dont like the rocker setup. after so long they talk about having to change that out for (cant remember code) something else. im not sure if CA has rockers or direct lobe contact but ill try to find that thread because some of the stuff was indeed petty. no engine is perfect.

this is a KA vs. SR thread but the CA is mentioned in very small amounts on the first and second pages.
only thing that is considered better as far as CA vs. SR goes is the valvetrain. the under bucket shim design (im guessing is same as direct lobe contact) in the CA supposedly is better flowing and more technological.
stock for stock:
CA 8 cam lobes (per cam)
SR 4 cam lobes (per cam)
SR aluminum block (not necessarily bad)
CA iron
CA dual intake system
it only contributes to a better top end in the CA because of its revvy nature (compared to SR). both are great engines and ive seen both before. martins should be nice as well!
basically the CA vs. SR argument is a moot point for me because its all about the amount of money and time you put into your motor. since for now im saving for an SR unless i can get CA parts alot more. (since they are rarer in the US)
my SR is gonna sit on an engine stand until it gets the full internals and everything (ill probably change my mind) so again its all about the buildup.
