as stupid as i may sound what cable do i need to buy to connect the aem to an laptop?

 

assuming you have a laptop not from the stoneage...

a usb to serial adapter.. at any radioshack... $19

and a Serial cable if your aem did not come with one



you need some tuning done ?

martin - alot of the new dell latitudes come with serial ports still. just an fyi if you want a fast tuning laptop..

Yea, I remember those days when I was using the USB->RS-232....especially on the MAP ECU.

I have not bough a AEM yet but looking to get a laptop and I just don't know what cable I would need to hook it up thx for the info.

When I get my engine started which will be soon and hopefully I don't hear any knocking... I'm sure I'll need a tune. Just hope something does not go wrong!

 

I would look into the Dell Latitude D600 series (D600 or D610) if you need something that will be 100% compatible, cheap, and not ancient.
