i just bought 89 240sx 5speed SOHC all stock 2 days a go. the car drives fine through all gears on the street and highway BUT if i try to push it i got fuel cut around 4000 to 4500 rpm in 3ed,4th but 5th it cut around 3000 rpm. Also it get weak after 3500 in 2ed. I smell gas in car every time i drive it. i tried to find out what the problem but i couldn't. some one told that ECU has governor or limiter in some of SOHC (KA24e).

any advice would be great help.

When my first 240 did this it was the fuel pump. Eventually it completly died. So that would be the first thing I'd check. Hope this helps.

 

Change fuel pump n fuel filter its an old car.

 

If both of us say it. Then it has to be true! ;p
