Default Starting problem

I have a 92 240sx hatch with a blacktop sr. Occasionally, and I mean every few days, the starter does not respond to the turn of the key. I have checked all the connections for loose wires and can't find anything wrong. All the other electrical power is on with the switch, just not the starter solenoid.
The car can be push started or will eventually start by key, but I have no idea what is changing other than my just looking at the wires. This always happens on the road somewhere and I can't get it to do it at home where I could run the circuits with a tester. It is my wifes car and she is not amused with the roadside rescue plan.

Is this a known/ common problem with a simple fix?
Any suggestions?

Wish it was that simple, but I just did the engine swap a month or so ago and the starter is nice and attached/connected.
Thx for the reply
