Default S13SR20DET AC question...

i was wondering, and yeah, after searching, if the red top and black top AC compressor, lines, and bracket are the same between the two S13 SR's??

i'm pretty sure they're the same, but i heard somewhere that the brakets are different...

also, i'm about to order some AC line ends (to weld to USDM lines to convert) from JDM of miami, and they have two postings, on set of line ends for a red top, and another listing for a set for S14/S13 SR's... would that mean they use the same line ends on the motors??

i'm about to swap my SR into my new S14 from my current S14, and plan on installing all AC components, i have a red top compressor, and bracket free of charge waiting on me when i need it, but before i go ordering the lines, i just want to make sure everything will work... that way i don't have to buy shit i can't use....

i'm itching to hit that buy it now button on Ebay for these lines but want to make sure before i do....

thanks guys!!!

and Z28 ricer, i know you got the inside line on SR AC, we've spoken extensivly about it, but i'd like to use JDM shit... if all else fails, i go your route!!!

All I read was blah blah blah changing a ton of stuff to run an SR AC compressor. Just get a relocation bracket from Codyace on NICO for $60 and run your S14KA compressor. Then you don't have to screw with lines; It's already an R134a compressor; and when it blows up you can get actually get a new/rebuilt one.

blacktop / redtop brackets / ac compressors / lines are all totally different...

i have everything to make your ac system work.. i weld lines myself

btw.. using a ka compressor, the low side doesn't clear with a bottom mount t2x

It clears on the S14/2871r bottom mount combo I did a couple years ago. The relocation brackets drop the compressor by 1" or so.

it 100% does clear.
s13sr, redtop bracket, s13 ka compressor, with a t28 and when i had a t25.

had to bend the lines a little, but it will work.

no relocation bracket. btw.

see i would love to do this, but the eariler question arisis... are the red/black top brackets different between S13 SR motors? cause i have access to a free red top bracket, but dunno how to source a black top braket.. or is the relocation braket from Codyace come complete? bracket, pulley etc... (i currently have a blacktop SR)

i'd much rather use the KA system as the parts would be easier to find, and hella cheaper... but if i have to go the SR route then....

also, people always complain about not having enough info in a post... i post all the info i can and 90% of people say "i didn't even read that" lol

lol, got me there Ep.... i was reading on another forum, a redtop bracket will work on a black top motor, as will the black top bracket work on a black top, of course, but the compressors wont work on mis matched brackets...[

i emailed codyace... i'd much prefer to run my KA set as it's working perfect in the car i'm bout to buy....

Block side for both brackets is the same. Compressor side isn't.

gotcha gotcha... so if i tell cody ace that i have a black top motor, with a red top AC bracket, he would give me the adapter plate for a red top....

now, since the compressors are slightly different, would that mean the offsets on the pulleys and tensioners are different from motor to motor?

how did you get this wealth of knowledge? i mean, you know damn near everything about these motors (KAs and SRs) and the cars (S13 and S14), and damn near every component therein... i'm not complaining at all by any means lol

maybe when this thread is all said and done, it might be the definitive explanation on putting AC in SR swapped cars.... most others are relatively vague...
