Default Haltech or AEM?

I'm in the middle of building a 400hp+, hopefully in the 500... sr20. And my next step is to decide what to go with as a stand alone... I was really looking into getting the haltech e8 or the new 1000 model. But I have come up with the expression that there are not many places out that I can get it tuned. So my question is what do you guys think I should get? AEM or go Haltech like I first waned? And what are some good places to get it tuned at? Thx

AEM. Plugs into your factory harness. Several people in the area can tune AEM including me.

AEM, not that there is anything wrong with Haltech at all, there great, I tuned my friends E6X easy and simple. AEM just has more options and is a little more user friendly.

Although I like the Haltech I'm gonna have to say AEM as there are more tuners familiar with it but also you can just go on their website and see who they have as authorized tuners in Florida. Both have pros and cons so just weigh your options.

Tuning most EMSs are similar, it's just knowing your way around the software pretty much. Any good tuner can take new software and play with it for a day and usually get to know it pretty well. I prefer AEM for applications that are closer to factory because of the simplicity of install. I use Haltech in some situations where we would install something like a rotary in a AE86 or other hybrid swaps. I still use the AEM box in some of those applications as well.

The reason why I don't want to rom tune it is that its the easy way... And I want to run open turbo... want that maf gone!!! And its just soooo much to a stand alone... you can have all the gauges you need and info about your car on a laptop.

Well If I was to buy a new AEM, where is a good place to buy one and I'm not familour with the models they have as I'm with haltech? Whats a good one? Thanks again!
