SR20DET tubular manifold. or not?
So I'm in the process of installing a new turbo on my SR. Picked up an S14 T28bb turbo yesterday (yay). Comes on a clean s14 cast turbo manifold with all the heatshields and stuff. Looks pretty nice actually.
I also have a megan racing tubular exhaust manifold that I've been running with my T25. I don't know what it is, but having a tubular exhaust manifold just looks really sweet. It does however seem to be baking everything on that side of the engine bay, and my high pressure a/c line gets pretty close to it, which makes me kinda iffy.
ALSO since my car is so low, and my downpipe hits on EVERYTHING, I'm a little nervous about running a crack-prone tubular manifold.
What are the pro's and con's of tubular manifolds? I'm considering just running the stock manifold with the heatshields, unless there are big gains to be had with the tubular manifold...
Thanks,
Sean

It's the updated megan one with the welded gussets and the bolted brace... but what does it offer other than good looks? Is it really a big difference?

It's supposed to be a substantial difference over a log. Art has been trying to convince me to do one since I started the build, I'm just too lazy to do it.

Difference in what though. Spool? Top end?
I've heard logs don't flow as much up top, but they spool faster...

this is an interesting read... full race vs. log.

Haha, maybe. I'm still undecided

Well, let me know. Have to take the manifold off anyway to get to some rusty bolts on the downpipe. Never seen bolts so fused.
