I agree with you there! That is how I started out. I did not want to pay someone to do the work when I could do it myself. And after working at Brandon Honda and seeing how some of the mechanics half ass the work I decided I did not even want to trust someone else with a simple oil change on my car!
Anyways if you have the tools and ability then do it yourself But if not there are plenty of people in the Tampa area that can do a very good job on the swap. As for the wiring all it takes is a voltmeter and a little patience!
Good luck

when the time comes i plan on renting (or maybe by then owning) an engine lift i already have the stand to do all the prep and maintenance work before hand. i will be dropping mine in myself and either by then i shall have the wiring figured out or ill pay someone to do it for me to save problems and hassles.
my friend is doing his 240 he is currently hovering around the 7-8k range including motor but he has ALOT of parts he is starting the swap with.

discount auto i think.
i know pep boys and autozones do.
or im sure if u paid john or someone here who has one (and you have truck/means to get it to your home and back) im sure they would lend it for an amount of time.
i will only need mine for one day though. i will have the engine on the stand for a few months while it gets the goodies inside and new belts and water pump and etc little things like that.
i wont be actauly swapping til its completed and then ill have the electronics and fuel pump and intercooler mounted then just do it all in a weekend/week.
of course for me this wont happen for probably a good year or so i have to save money.

To think I started all this lol
I was the Second RWD st20det swap in FLorida and third in the U.S.
Its funny four years ago everyone around town had heard I had the engine and was attempting the swap. Guys like John @ Spec R told people I would never get it running. lol
a couple of months later Dave had his car at spec r and called me becuase he needed my help. and guess what they had there my whole swap instructions web site printed out.
After I posted my how to site everone started swapping their KA.
at the time and now most of the people that answer these swap questions are the ones that never even done it them selves. they just like to add their 2 cents in.
Like Sam from Jspec and Wayne in Cali. both also have the swap but has v spec do it they would try to discourage others from trying the swap them selves by saying how hard it is but how would they know ? and mark from Slide squad wanted to charge me $200 for a write diagram on the wiring wich I didnt need I figured it out myself. but after I found out that he had another guy do it for him. Same story with Mike from Speed demon in Miami. He wanted $1000 just for the wiring. I had the engine in already. the reason he wanted so much was for time and research on figuring out the wiring. but later found out that Mark(slide squad) traded him parts for the instructions. sorry about all this . here is the site if you need it www.eurostreetgraphics.com/srswap.htm
