GT Motorsports:350ZHRTT 583whp @ 14psi - 93oct. - stock block / stock clutch
I decided to shed some light on some less discussed engine platform/s here since every other thread I see here on TR is mainly about SR20 powered vehicles I figured It would be nice to display what is possible with engine technology from this century. Especially since most local tuners are still stuck in the late 80s/90s.

I totally believe the numbers.. I tuned a G35 on a JWT kit at about 15 psi, and it made every bit of 570 rwhp. (Pistons / rods / cams) New HR motor borrow a lot of hardware from the R35 motor. (girdle.. fastners.. better crank design.. dual VTC) It is a tougher all around motor.

Too clarify things further: This thread wasn't aimed at SR lovers (I love SR's myself). It is just meant to be a eye opener. Please keep SR/VG hatred/buttsex outside of this thread.

. The VQ37 supposedly has even stronger rods.
The TQ curve looks NASTY 500+wtq from 3700rpms up till 6k+rpms. It's making more torque than alot of muscle cars. Traction must be non-existent on the stock tires.
It is amazing what you can do with proper cam timing control. I've tuned K series motors with K-Pro in the past just shy of 300 wheel hp... NA ! ..
700 is a stretch.. VQ pistons have very shallow skirts for emission reasons.. which makes them frail...
The other shitter.. is that it is still an open deck... No matter which way you slice it.. open deck cylinders will vibrate.. and will eventually lead to failure at good power levels...
welcome back to the 1990's and all the Honda problems.

New VQ's supposedly have much stronger sleeves as well. Same shop is building up a stroked up motor on stock sleeves and shooting for 1000whp. We will see how that goes. Lots of engines need to be sleeved past a certain point.

Local shops ARE tuning these things. Don't think for one second that local trends have anything to do with keeping the 350Z guys down. The fact of the matter is that until just recently, there hasn't been a great tuning platform. Now they have open reflashing, Haltech Platinum, and UTEC. That along with cheap 2003's is going to make these really gain in popularity.
I think the 10psi plot is beautiful. Full boost at 3400rpms and mostly flat all the way to redline. Now THAT is a powerband. At 10psi, it'd probably last forever, too.
I saw on another forum where people are getting 300whp on just tuning, headers, exhaust. Someone just needs to figure out weight reduction and we'll have some toys for big boys.

very nice. i remember dropping my first 5 digit lump of cash!
paint the IC black (and to stretch, maybe even the mufflers/rear piping [keep the tips polished]), and i'm in love. sleeper fo' sho'.
