I'm selling my 1990 Nissan 240SX Automatic with a KA24E, if it doesn't sell though, I think I'll keep it for the long haul, so I'll want to have the Motor Rebuilt... Where and How much would this cost total? Shop owners, feel more than welcome to post a quote/timeframe to me... If the car doesn't sell within the next 3-4 days, I'll be doing this to build it up for some basic modifications.

I know in the Honda Forums, when someone posts up for a job they need done, they get shit loads of referrals and quotes.. same with DSM... Just looking for either a small shop or decent sized shop who can rebuild it for the right price IF I decide to keep it.

 

1st. why do you want to rebuild it? does it knock, smoke, leak etc?
2nd. why do you wanna rebuild a sohc motor, just spend less money and get a twin cam.
3rd. why do you feel you need to build a motor for "basic" modifications?

call around to the variety of shops in the directory here on TR. or PM 180sx.

 

I don't know many shops that would even agree to rebuild that particular motor. Most people in your situation just find a used dohc motor from a 91-98 and swap that in. They're more reliable, make more power, cheap ($500-700 for a nice one), and they bolt in. They'll actually increase the value of your car, too, unlike a rebuild sohc.

 

Know anywhere that can do this swap? What all do I need to buy? Just a KA24DE and thats it?

honestly..search around some before asking these questions...of the 2 threads you've made..you could have found the info yourself just as easily...

 

just by a dual cam ka in good shape..you can pick those up for about 300-400
