350Z Guys
Sup everyone,
Just wondering if any of you have hands on experience with a few parts. I am doing a complete suspension overhaul and drive-train revamp in the next couple months and am just looking for a few more opinions.
Buddy Club Coilovers
Hotchkis Sways(3 point adjustable type)
Camber(Brand?)(needed?)
JWT Clutch+Flywheel
Nismo 4.0 Gears
I have heard nothing but good things about all of these on 350z specific forums, but for that reason I feel the opinions could be slightly bias. So Im looking at a local persons opinion away from the brand name hype.
Thanks for any input.
Evo
PS. I am shying away from any major motor mod considering I am contemplating a F/I build. I just have to get an idea of what is next for me after this deployment and see where I will be and things financially. Hopefully by the next deployment I will have a good financial base to begin a build and have it finished by the end of said deployment. Also I realize 4.0 gears are not optimal with a F/I build, but I figure its as easy as a 1 for 1 swap with a NA guy when the time comes.

Whats 4.0 gears? Like 4.0 ring and pinion or Is that to get rid of the grind problem with the older model transmissions?
Yea 4.0 ring and pinion swap from the stock 3.5. I am not to worried about that to much though. I know that the nismo gears are a good mod for a n/a car, 15% accel increase in every gear with very minimal top speed loss(Not like I will reach the top speed on a 1/4 track or autocross anyways).
I am more worried about the clutch/flywheel and suspension parts. Like I said..all these parts come highly recommended from other forums..just want an outsiders opinion if you get what I am saying.

The 4.013 rear end is going to be one of hell of a switch from your current 3.5. I think thats the Titan rear end correct? Only person that will install that for you is going to be Performance Factory. That rear is a bitch to get in the Z. I would suggest the 3.9 ESPECIALLY if you daily drive your Z.
The JWT flywheel is a major improvement acceleration wise vs our stock set up. As you've probably heard that the JWT is the noisiest swap out of the bunch. They were not lien. Gears will be very clunky when the car is cold. Slightly notchier at lower RPMS, but an overall improvement. Clutch pedal feels about the same stifness, but the catch point will be lower than your stock clutch.

your suspension upgrades are where its at. Hotchkis sways kick ass, but can you still find them?
Buddy Club coilovers get down with it, i personally dont have any experence but have heard good things.
Camber will be needed depending on what offsets you are running with your rim set up. I'm in Largo/Clearwater bolted up to the fullest. Hit me up sometime.

The Z33 uses an R200v so you can take a diff/R&P gear from alot of nissans. Look for a 3.9 out of a J30 they are easy enough to find.
I have a j30 ring and pinion if you want it.

i would probably look into stance coilovers over the buddy clubs.
im not positive but i think that they have the option of coil over spring, or seperate spring rears, and are awesome quality/ available to be repaired in america.

Yeah I wouldn't go for some exotic 4.0 gear if the 3.9 is readily available. Anyone that's done a gear swap will tell you that it really changes the way the car drives, acceleration wise. My gear swap was only 7% or so. Twice that is going to be crazy. I haven't crunched the numbers, but I'll bet you'll have to hit 3rd to make it to 60mph. Keep the old gears if you do go FI. As long as it's Nissan parts, you shouldn't have a problem with quality.
