Default z32 gauge cluster problems

so a few days ago my 91 Z started this cute little thing where the gauge cluster goes completely dead(except for the gas gauge). then randomly I will crank it up and everything will work fine. then another time I will crank it up and nothing again. seems to be no pattern to it, no blown fuses, I even pulled the gauge cluster out of the dash and checked allthe connections, looked for any signs of corrosion ect. even completely disconnected it, then reconnected it. made no difference. and the same time it started this, my a/c has stopped blowing cold, and I can't hear the compressor cycling. everything else on the car is working fine. it starts right up, all lights work, radio, everything else electrical is fine. this is cinfusing the hell out of me and I have tried searching several times and havent come up with anything helpful. anyone experienced anything like this before or know what may cause it? it n/a also if that makes a difference

well I fixed it. I got curious and went out and checked over some things. turns out it was a bad connection at the negative battery terminal. I checked the terminal to the battery before, but the connections from the wires to the terminal were what was bad. everything is back to normal now. maybe this will helps someone else having a similar problem atleast

well so much for that. it went dead again today. I put on a new terminal with connections I know are solid and its still doing it. after running some more tests looks like my alternator is going bad. only putting out between 12.5-13.5 volts. just enough to keep the battery topped off enough to start and to keep the essentials running, but not accessories

is this a common problem on these cars?I heard the z31's had a problem with a control board or something in them that would cause similar problems. would the cluster being bad also cause the problems with the a/c and the defrost and cruise control?
