Redtop starter
I think the starter on my redtop sr20 is going bad, and I looked and all I could find about using an alternate was that the solenoid from a KA starter works, but nothing else. What is the deal with that, how do I know if it is just the solenoid and what do I need to do to make that work for me if that's the problem. And if anyone knows of a good place to get a new starter for the redtop, just in case, let me know. Thanks

Really easy. I was kinda worried since I hadn't done it before and didn't really find a lot of info about it but it worked out. Two bolts for the solenoid and two two for the head (on the back end of the starter...they're long).
Watch out with the KA starter, the head isn't one piece like the SR one so it fell to pieces when I took it off. It probably took me 10 minutes max.
It was funny when I brought my starter back for the core charge. The body was all dirty, greasy, etc. with a pristine head on it. The guy looked at it weird but didn't say anything.

Thanks guys, that should help me get it fixed this weekend and stop push starting it after I stop at the store for something quick.

starters are pretty easy to take apart. Though most of the time you just need to replace the copper contacts and you are good to go.
