Anyone run w/ out a Theromostat?
Anyone run w/ out a Theromostat?
I was wondering, I've heard of select people running w out one. Right now the car is stock KA. Odd issue is tooling around town car runs fine with no over heating issues. Get on the interstate run 70-75 for a while up rises the temp. Kick on the heater for a few it goes down. Not thinking it a radiator issue, rather than a thermostat issue. So I'm going to start w the smallest easiest to fix issue.
Suggestions? Thoughts?

i ran without a t-stat for a long time. with a stock radiator and stock fans it was fine. with a koyo and just the electric fan, it was fine. but when i put the clutch fan back on with the koyo and the shroud, it ran too cold and i put a new one in. i had one do similarly to yours mike, it would be fine but sometimes it would stick. so its probably got gunk on it and just time to get a new one.
some people have said that not running one can warp a head because of the inconsistency of the hot/cool coolant going through it, but i've had numerous people not run one without problems.
but for the peace of mind, its better to just run one. during the winter its nice too, or else it takes for-----ever to warm up and when you need the heat to get warm on those cold mornings, it is nice lol.
