Default Anyone have experience radiusing fenders or installing rear wide body?

I tried posting in paint/body work forum, but no one answered, so I came home to ask the nissan guys

Just got a few questions cause I am really thinking about goin' at it with the help of a friend or two. The car is an s13 convertible, jus incase someone doesnt know me.

How difficult? could a couple decent back yard mechanics pull it off? Whats the best way to ensure that the wells stay water tight? Any other advice you might give to a first timer?

Thanks to anyone who answers!

you can handle it if you take the time.

There are three layers of sheet metal under there. If you only cut through the outer skin(start at about one inch) you'll be able to pull the inner skin out and fold it around the the fresh cut on the outer skin to keep a more tire friendly wheel well. you can tack weld, pop-rivet, or leave it before painting/rustoleum. Foam it from the inside to finish sealing it.

get double sided tape, a tape measure, and mount your new wheels and tires in order to place your fenders in the correct position, you'll need to adjust your new fenders slightly in or out to make them even(pulling or compressing from the ends).

3/16th" diameter with a 1/16th" to 1/8th" depth range, aluminium pop-rivets work very well, aluminum backing washers are not necessary.

I would suggest trimming the bottom of the fenders so that they end at the top of the black trim tape line, and to go 50mm it will match your front end better.
