Default Clutch advice for SR20DET

I really need a new clutch, only thing keeping me from ordering one is i don't know exactly what would work best for me yet, hopefully u all can help.

I currently have an Exedy 3 puck with 2600lb pressure plate (supposedly). Since this is my first manual car, i'm used to the high grabbing point and i don't find it a problem with daily driving. However now it slips like crazy and is making a lot of noise soo time for a new clutch.

I've been looking at the ACT Street Disk clutch kit:

Heavy Throttle: ACT HD Clutch Kit, Street Disk, Nissan SR20DET S13/S14, 372 TQ

But i don't get why the 6-puck is cheaper:

ACT 6 puck clutch SR20DET NS1-HDR6

Actually i don't really understand what advantages a pucked clutch has, if anyone could fill me in there.

---

I don't plan on drifting this car, and in the near future i won't be making any crazy power increases. This will just be a street driven SR so that's why i was leaning towards the street disk, but if the 6 puck is better and cheaper shouldn't i get that?

I'm also open to opinions on other clutches around the same price range..

AND also, where is the easiest place to get a rear main seal? Does the fwd SR20DE seal work?

What about a spec clutch? Maybe a stage 2. Spec makes a pretty good clutch.

The spec stage 1 is rated to hold up to 310 ft. lbs. of torque. That should be enough for you, and its under $300 shipped.

Get an ACT or Exedy.
It all depends on what your doing with the car.. and how you like the pedal pressure.

If you can ball out for one Carbon Clutches are nice. grab really nice and have a surprisingly easy pedal

stay away from spec. total garbage.

exedy stage 1 is fine, and will hold plenty, especially for street driving.
puck clutches grab harder usually, and are lighter. thats about it.

yea i've read bad things about Spec but haven't experienced it personally, there's other brands out there so i think i will just get something else

and thanks for the explanation on the puck-ness

Do not go with SPEC, they are hit or miss, not something I'd want to deal with again. Personally, I would go with ACT, have used plenty of them and have never had any problems. We have them in stock ready to go also!
