Default air comin out of oil cap

ok i just got the car running and back together after putting a new head on and gaskets

car starts up fine and runs great, butt when i pulled the oil cap, i feel air comin out of it and it smells like exhaust(almost)

did i do somthing wrong here.
also on my way home the temp sky rocket to the top so i pulled over and check under ther hood and didnt see any water at all, when i got back in the car to turn to key to see where it was it was at 1/4 way up, in less then 2 mins??? got the car home since i was just around the block and i hear a hissing noise comin from the rad cap so i replaced it with another one i had layin around, filled it up again and bleed the system again. could that have been the cuase of my temp getting hot?

My first thought for the air coming from around the oil cap could be the PCV valve.

As far as the other issues with running hot...you may have found the solution with the replacement of the cap and bleeding the system. After a head replacement its never cool to have issues like this.

well the temp dont worry about, you are supposed to bleed the system extremely well so you don't have hot air build up in the cooling system.. the second your temp sensor reads hot air what do you think is gonna happen? and as for the air coming out of the oil cap. how hard is it? mine is the same way it should be coming out a lil since you have your cams(or cam) spinning in there, but not to hard (mine smeels like exhaust kinda too, its prob burning oil? how good are your valve seels?

the head was rebuild with new oil seal and valves, laped in and shaved abit to

its coming ou hard once the cap is removed u can hear the engine ideal diff i mean its blowing air out of the oil cap when its off of course

i need to figure this out so i can fix it tomarrow (my only day off)
car has been down for a month and it finally back on the road,
replace motor, find out head is no good, replace the head, removed emissions, ac/compressor, and and fix everything else i been wanting to do to it, i have a alot of work in this car and im not about to let it go (i love my car)

u see my sig i have another project waiting for its freshly rebuilt motor and i like to start workin on that soon once the car it all fixed up

u sure?i like to keep the last on my mind, i have removed most of the emessions on the car only left and capd the ones up front and left everything in the backof the motor. could it be the pcv valve and is causeing it to pressureize the valve cover?

did some research on blowby and came up with pcv valve as a cause as well
