I've got a redtop and so far it's got a Cometic head gasket and 555cc injectors and a tomei ECU, with the last turbo that was on it (12psi) it was running 285rwhp and it's got a 15psi turbo on there now and I want to make sure that when I get it tuned I am not going to run the risk of messing up the rest of the engine. I'm planning on building the head with some solid pivots, valves, springs, retainers, cams and gears before that though.

Didn't know there was a difference between redtop and blacktop... wait there is almost no difference. Internally all SR20DET's are very very strong. Easily do 400 rwhp on a decent motor, reliably. BTW 272 cams are a waste of money with a S15 turbo... 264's are more than plenty for what a s15 turbo offers... and you are not wasting spool up time.

slow240 you heard wrong. There is no potential power differences between the 2. I have a redtop SR, enough said.

The pistons are different between blacktop and redtop, but no one has definitively concluded that the blacktop ones are stronger. You can't do a strength test on used parts, especially ones that are over a decade old. The myth goes that the blacktop ones are stronger, for those scoring at home.

And if JaxS13Racer is wondering, "how much boost can an SR take" is the Nissan equivalent to "what's faster a bike or a car".
