im thinking about picking up a spare block to build because i think mine is starting to go bad.. need to do a compression test still.. but if i get a rwd block will it still work in my car? (see sig) i know the head is different dont start telling me about that.. im talking about block, crank, rods, and pistons. only parts im interested in

 

oh btw i dont want fanboys just jumping in here saying no it wont work because they are different motors i want someone with actual knowledge to tell me the answer and if they arent the same please explain i want to be able to walk out to my car and see the difference you are talking between the rwd and fwd.. i believe the blocks are the same its just the heads that are different but i would like to know for sure. if they are the same im going to try and pick up a rwd block and slop some pistons rods and a crank in it and slap it in my car so i know its good to go

 

allot of the stuff is different! no im not a fanboy, yes i have experience with the fwd sr and rwd sr. all the mounting areas are different. it will not work.bell housing bolt locations are even different i believe.

 

ok thats the kind of answer i was looking for..a little more detailed would be good tho.. i would really like to see pics or something so that i can compare to know 100% sure it wont work.. because the oil and coolant lines for the turbo are the same i know that. and i believe they use same pistons, rods and crank.. so i dunno im thinking about ordering another motor putting it in and then rebuilding motor i have..

 

You can use the internals of a RWD SR20DET just fine. The mounting points and the bellhousing pattern is different I believe, as is accessory components (i.e. power steering, A/C, alternator, etc.)
