A/C compressor clutch(?) question
I've got a 92 240 and am having a bit of an issue with the A/C. The problem is a noise that can best be described as a loud baseball card in a bicycle spoke noise while the A/C compressor is on. While it is off, no noise is present. Additionally, frequency of said noise is also RPM dependent. Even with said noise, it still blows ice cold A/C so it is probably not the compressor, right?
If it isn't the compressor, does the clutch come off or is it one of those all inclusive deals?
Any insight would be appreciated, got a road trip coming soon and I'd love to have functioning A/C.

I'll take you up on that once I can source a new compressor/clutch assembly tomorrow. Shouldn't be more than a 20 minute swap once I get the part early tomorrow A.M.
