Angry Sr20det Help!

This is for my roomate:

Actually, if anyone could come by and check the car out, the better...beer will be involved for you, and only experienced Nissan people please!

Basically a 1993 240sx Sr20det (all work done by Z Fever unfortunately). Not sure where to start...

Ever since the swap was installed by Z Fever there have been issues with overheating. The car was NEVER pushed...anytime the temperature would go up, the car was shut off and towed to the shop. It always seemed to be a leak near the back of the engine, and it would cost a fortune to fix the leak b/c they had to take the engine apart partially.

I decided that there were too many constant issues (was adding up each time), so got it fixed one more time (XAT this time...didn't trust Fever anymore), ran perfectly fine, and decided to sell the car (got a 2002 Civic DD).

Car sat for about a month or so...and just wouldn't start. Turned out to be needed a new battery, and an unplug/replug of the MAF sensor (read on another Nissan tech forum). Besides a slight constant pinging-type noise in idle (almost like a loose header bolt or something), car ran with no issues that I could tell. Sat for about another week before a buyer came to look at it.

Well, on that day, the car decided to take a shit. Started up a little rough, idled like shit. Sounded like an exhaust leak towards the engine, although there wasn't one...just running ROUGH overall. Started to drive it and temperature gauge went close to the top! No leaking could be seen, oil and water levels were fine...no headgasket blow that I could see.

Guy claimed we were trying to sell him a junk car and that we knew it was screwed (almost got into a fight with that one), said it sounded like a rod was done for.

I know without audio/video it is hard to tell what the problem is, but anyone...wtf is going on with it here? Did the constant leaks over time damage the engine (even though it was never driven when it heated up)? Does the car...my former daily driver which I treated like a BABY...hate me for trying to sell her? I'm at my wits end here. HELP!
