yeah i read on another article about the car that he starts off in 2nd all day and he can start off in 5th all day if he wanted to thats nuts

What are you talking about. That car has no transmission. It's directly linked to the rear differential. There are no gears.

i coulda sworn i saw that it had 4 speed or 5 speed. maybe i was wrong but i saw it on ebay that a guy was trying to sell one and was bragging that it would start off in 5th

He's using marine batteries. A bunch of them. You can't mate a transmission to them.

Some drag electric cars and sport electric cars may have an 2 speed if your packing a ton of power, but you don't really need a transmission on electric cars.
