Default KA timing guides

I am getting mixed answers about the timing guides on my ka. I have heard that there are a timing guide or two that I don't need to use. Which one or ones is it?

i'm hoping that when you say guides you are talking about the funny pieces of metal that the timing chain hits and makes noises, and not the little dots and marks that you use to set your timing...

just wanted to be sure, i've heard them both get called guides....

the top one is just shy of completly useless. i'm pretty sure its only purpose is if your chain breaks it won't hit the valve cover.... so yeah you can take that one out no problem.. the one on the side, i'm pretty sure you want or maybe even need that one...

the top and side guides for the upper chain are useless. remove them before they remove themselves and your chain and valves with it

I had problems with the lower plasic guides before. One of them broke into a million pieces and clogged my pickup tube. So, now my s14 is motorless until I get my sr put together.
