im new to the 240's and i just got an 95 240sx with ka motor
was told the timing was off and wondering where to set it at?
also wondering what all is needed for an sr20 swap? can i use the tranny that is in it or do i need a different one?
also wanna do an s15 swap...looking at a couple different kits...anyone know if its just bolt on or is there fab work to be done?
like i said new to nissans and dont know much...

well I'll try to help as much as I can. You will need an SR tranny to go on an SR. And I'm pretty sure when you buy the conversion as a kit and just dont get a S15 front from japan there are no modifications required. But if you had just like an S15 front clip then yes there is some fab work to be done. Sorry I can't help much with your timing issue. Get a Timing light?? And when you do an SR swap you will need a few things but it also depends on the condition of your motor and what all the set came with. Sometimes the oil pans are bent all to hell so you need a new one. Some people automatically change the head gaskets. If it is a complete motor and tranny set, the most your gonna need is new belts and spark plugs and things like that. Good luck dude.
sr swaps are quite a bit of work.. you need the sr tranny putting a new clutch in and headgasket is always a good idea.. new hoses and belts also (you dont know how long this motor sat in a junkyard in japan then how long it sat at said shop here) i would also pull the valve cover and oil pan and check out all the bearings and make sure theres not a lot of sludge/uneven wear things like that.. remember your buying a used motor.. which in japan is the equivilant to buying a used 350 here.. you know its be used and abused.. and on the s15 conversion no matter what kit you buy (front clip or like the origin kit) you will need the s15 headlights from nissan 600 bucks or so for a set.. and you will need to modify your radiator support on the s14's.. on s13s you need to replace the rad support. any other questions ill be glad to try and answer..
