Default unbalanced drive shaft?

will an unbalanced drive shaft kill the trans after like 500 miles?...this is the 3rd trans that has had he bearings go in like 3 months...they are all fine for about 500 miles...and they all sound/feel the same as they go.....i was thinking that maybe its the drive shaft. i put the right oil in it and the right amount...no leaks...clutch is good and so is throw out bearing....if you can think of anything else it would be appriciated.

An unbalanced shaft is going to kill the rear tranny seal and the driveshaft seal. Do you have the driveshaft's center bracket installed correctly? It's not symetrical. That might kill your output shaft bearing. Which bearing is dying? These old trannies get some input bearing noise a lot, but they're fine. And you're using 75w90 or 80w90 and 2.5qts?

i bet i know what happened... did you just do a 5 speed swap ? or put in a ka or SR that had an auto ? If you used any kind of auto motor, there is a pilot bushing you have to install in the crankshaft.. if not, tranny = pop quick.

the center bracket is in right. and i used 80/90 2.5 qts...i called the dealer and thats what they said to use....i have no idea which bearing it is...it just sounds very noisy and doesnt like to go into 2nd gear. buts it noisy in all gears even when its in neutral.

you know what....i did put a new long block in it and it was auto....where can i get one of these pilot bushings from? are they expensive from the dealer? do i need any special tools to put it in? or just tap it in and go?

thanx guys

damn i feel good for once !!! sorry you had to go through 3 trannies though. The pilot bushing looks like a small copper ring and it costs like $2 anywhere. Any parts store will have this .. just ask for it for a pilot bushing for a 240SX.
When you take the clutch and flywheel off you might have to remove the center ring that is in the crankshaft hole, if you haven't alreay.. it looks like a big fat shiny ring (this is the auto's version of a pilot bushing... so you throw it away)... After you are sure it is off, the pilot bushing goes in the very center of the crank.. you can't mess it up because it only fits in the only hole there. Use lots of grease when you put it in, and pack some in just to make sure you get no startup noise.
