CA18DET safe boost?
So I just orderd a Slowboy Racing manual boost controller for my hatch and would like to know a safe boost level to match the mods on my car.
current setup: CA18DET (good compression)
S15 BB T28(wastegate pressure, 6-7psi)
Metal HG
FMIC
Blitz SS BOV
Blitz Access ECU
Blitz Filter
3" strait exhaust with 3" fartcan
Walbro 255 FP
z32 fuel filter
93 octane fuel ONLY!!!
Pretty much everything else engine-wise is stock including the injectors, MAF sensor, and I think the FPR is stock or non existant (I wouldnt know what it looks like or where it is if I do have one, let alone know what to do with it lol)
Im geting realy bored of 6psi of boost and would like to bump it up a notch or two, I just dont know of a safe maximum boost seting to work well with what I have. Im hoping I can get away with 9-10psi before having to upgrade injectors and whatnot but if not what do you all think?
Thanks in advance, it will be about a week before it gets here so if I left something important out tell me and I will let ya know. -Shane
P.S. What is the expected HP gain per PSI of boost added?

370cc is correct, though you might be able to push 10/11lbs witha fuel control unit (not sure what settings the ECU is made for). I agree with the Nismo FPR, but would also add injectors to it. Also, if unknown right now, I would try to find out exactly what settings that ECU has, and match them, unless you plan on switching the management system, then I would research injector sizing based on the HP goals you wish to obtain with that motor. The block is iron, and if you have a metal hg you should be good there, head studs will finish it off just to be safe. btw is ur 3" turbo back? do you have the elbow and dp or is it jus the exhuast? If you don't have an elbow or dp, start there.
IIRC, the hp/psi is about 7/1, but this is jus off memory.
Also, please remember the CA is an old finicky motor, double check vital engine components before putting it under un-necessary stress

Thanks for all the info so far, it is much apreciated. I can tell you it runs little rich (garlgly sound, smells like fuel), I have no idea what the ECU is tuned for though. Ive been told before that stock DSM injector will fit if you do something with the o-rings. Are they like 440 450cc inj? Will that be enough for at least the capabilities of my bottom end? Im not asking much out of this motor, no more than 250whp. If it means anything, I dont have an AFR meter so would this pose a problem seting the FPR without taking it to a dyno? I dont realy know how the FPR works or what it realy does or even where it goes lol. Is it a means of adjsuting fuel ratio? Thanks again fellas! -Shane

Actually, 250 is a pretty decent number to shoot for on a CA.
FPR stand for Fuel Pressure Regulator, and I believe (not 100%) but it functions as a nozzle that, when adjusted, opens and closes allowing more or less fuel to flow. Please, any better description/explination is welcomed and appreciated.
I am not a fan of A/F meters, i havent seen any that are real accurate. I would personally spend a little extra money and go wide band, this will also help in tuning.
When looking for injectors, know that the CA18det uses TOP FEED, HIGH IMPADENCE. You can use low imp if you have a resistor box. IIRC the later FC rx7 injectors are a favorite among the CA guys on NICO. Those, again iirc, are 550s but they are kinda hard to get...
thats pretty much all i remember from my CA days, the CA forum on Nissan Forums | Infiniti Forums by NICOclub.com, the original Nissan Forum for true enthusiasts. was very helpful if you need any more info

btw the exhaust is super ghetto and geting replaced soon with turbo back kit. The stock downpipe was modified to fit my exhaust when i put the turbo on. so its stock dia. opened up to 3" right after it exits the turbo.

YEESSSSS! MBC and megan turbo back is installed! Sounds waaay better and tucked up nice and tight. Central Automotive did the install for me, some parts need a little tweaking to fit but it all gravy now. After i got back, my MBC was sitting on my porch waiting for me. bout ten minutes later and im ready to go for a test drive. It was already set for 11psi when i put it in and it seemed to run fine. No hickups or pops or anything, jsut smooooth. Havnt beat on it hard yet with the added boost, but all the way up to about 6500 it jsut pulled without a problem then i let off. Im also happy my ghetto exhaust-clamped IC piping held togeather aswell. I guess next for the car is new IC piping,Inj/FPR, then a good tune. Well, anyways, thanks for all the info, figured id give yall an update.
