Default Power windows and locks??

If I got doors with power windows and locks in them, would I be able to use them if car didn't originally come with it? I figure that the wiring should be there and it would just be a matter of putting fuses in. Just figured I would ask.

Thanks

No it is not there. You'll need that entire wiring harness that goes under the dash. It is not easy. I tried once and just decided it easier to leave them manual. you'd have to remove the entire dash. Alot of rewiring would be done.

if you are good at wiring/electrical, it can be done.
you're probably not gonna have the most stock set up ever, but it can be done. The coupe I got had aftermarket power windows wired in. he put the buttons between the seats were the arm rest is. he had to basically wire everything in. It takes alot of time and you have to pay attention to details, thats why alot of people say that it isn't worth it.
so no, it isn't quite as simple as putting fuses in, but yes it can be done.

Guess that I will just do the power locks and crank the windows when I need to. I have the actuators and an alarm system to install and wanted to put the windows on my aux channel.

in that case, you've solved alot of the wiring issue. if you are intalling an alarm system that is going to control the windows too, then you just have to figure out how to wire the windows into that.

if you have the door harness and the window switch its actually easy to hook up the windows, you only hook up 6 wires. and you just tap a fuse.

i thought thats all it took. I've done the swap on a civic and we had most of the wires. The hardest part was getting the button on the driver side door to operate the passenger side window, and that was only because we wanted it to be as close to stock as possible.

a 240 that didn't come with PW/PL doesn't have the same strand of wires coming out of the door as the one with them. You'd have better luck just swapping the whole door. But then you'd still have to change that harness that is routed under the dash. But who really wants to do that. That guy up top actually has a good idea. Just go to a shop and pay someone else to put in some aftermarket. Yeah it may not look stock but who cares. We're all about modifying our cars anyway. Hell, do something funny and have em wire the switches in with heater so everytime you crank the heat up it winds your windows down. Be creative.

I agree with the whole swapping the door idea. It would be easier. I have no doubt that you could just swap the parts you need, but you might run into issues getting everything to go into place. If the windows and locks worked in the door when you got it, and you just swapped the door, then you know that it will work once you get power to the places you need it.
If you are crafty with electrical stuff, then you won't have to do anything to the harness.... but you said you were installing an alarm system, so everything should get wired into that anyway. so you're all set to go. good luck with the swap.
