Default Over heating only in first ten mins of driving

I start driving my car is get will over heat only after drving it for 5mins, then about a few more mins of drving it will cool down back to normal temp and stays there all the time, no matter how much i beat on it. its only when I start driving the car after its been setting cooling down.

Its a 91 ka24det. it only has the stock radiator from a dohc and i know that's one prob but if that was really the prob it would over heat all the time.

I replaced the water pump, thermostat, checked for leaks and have two fans on, that run at the right temp. The only thing i'm missing is that heater hose that runs from the back of the motor behind the thermostat housing. Now could that be the probelm. I dont see how a little hose like that could cause this but its getting to be a big problem.

any help would be great

thx,
mark

i had a 240 with a leaky waterpump. the coolant would be low and it would overheat until the coolant was warm enough and expanded. maybe your coolant is low and you have a leak elsewhere. just a thought

My car does that aswell KA24DE within the first couple min of driving my temp gauge will spike at over heated and come back down after a min. It doesn't appear to me that my car overheats. I was informed that it was a bad gauge cluster, maybe thats the same for you??

nope already did that two times.. same thing, and aslo about a bad gauage cant be i have a aftermarket one aswell. well i took the thermostat back out because the car started to over heat and build was to much pressure and was blowing coolent out of the cap. and now it seams to ride fine. idk its weird.

Check the water pump as mentioned before? I had an overheating problem a while back and had the water pump changed and no more leaking coolant.

It might be ur fans bc the fan clutch r known 2 go bad on 240's that happen 2 mine.....put something in the fan while its running and if it stops then ur fan clutch is bad use a piece of csrd board it should chop it up i changed the fan clutch on my 240 5 different times unless u have a different set up...

water pump is new just put it on yestday... and i am running electric fans so that's not the prob. it seams like the its leaking from around the cap but not too sure. hard to tell and have not gone out to mess with it.

it sounds like your thermostat isn't working properly.... check it, and or, get another new one.... you should also check your coolant temp sensor, it could be loose, or going bad and just tweaking out....
