Im sorry if this has already been answered im still new to the forums and ive searched and searched n still havent been able to find the answer....


OK well i have a 1981 datsun 280zx 2+2 automatic My friend has a I believe a 73 280z not the zx or 2+2 model, but he really has no use for it so i was wondering if i i could take his 5spd transmission n swap my auto out. Wuld it fit right? or would it take some work to do? Plz help ive been lookin for hours n i havent been able to find it maybe im just slow.... thanks in advance if you can help me answer this

 

Can sum1 plz help me? I mean i kno its probably a stupid and obvious question but im new to the car seen im better with the electronics. I just wanna make sure i dont spend money 4 nothing

 

Does you friends Z run? Ill give you an 85 GTS corrolla for it.

As for the tranny, I dont think it will bolt up. But i would go on a Z forum and look around, very few people on here know anything other than 240's. . .

And besides, you'll need more than just the tranny. Harnesses, flywheel, driveshaft, master and slave cylinder etc. There are a bunch of 280zx's down here for real cheap, buy a manual and start swappin stuff; trash the chassis later.

 

I belived the two should match up.....if im not mistaken the L28 in his will match the L28 in yours.

yes the tranny will work, but you will have to use a 2+2 driveshaft.
the pedal assembly is different though.

and the 280z came out in 75-78.. not 73.
